About NYJEE
HISTORY
The New York/Jerusalem Experts Exchange (NYJEE) is a program of Partnership 2000 (P2K), funded by UJA-Federation of New York and the Jewish Agency for Israel. The overarching goal of the P2K initiative is to link Jewish communities in Israel and abroad in an effort to strengthen Israeli society, while promoting international Jewish unity. NYJEE is a partnership between the the Jerusalem Inter-Cultural Center and CAUSE-NY, a division of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC-NY).
MISSION OF NYJEE
NYJEE educates professionals from Israel, New York, and around the world on relevant issues in their field, using web-based technology to bring them together. NYJEE focuses on coalition building, community organizing, and dialogue, using webinars (web-based seminars) and online courses to connect international partners.
ACTIVITIES
NYJEE operates in several ways:
- Organizing webinars for professionals working in diverse fields, which address a variety of diversity/cross-cultural communication issues. Past webinars have included: Cultural Competency Courses for Healthcare Professionals, Community Mediation, Diversity in the Workforce, and a Tikkun Olam series on Jewish Global Responsibility to the ‘Other’.
- Working with existing P2K partner agencies in Israel and around the world: NYJEE trains them in specific skill sets in order to produce long-term sustainable relationships, with a focus on cross-cultural communication. They are also taught how to better use technological tools to enhance their partnerships.
- Creating international networking groups of professionals in a variety of fields, with the goal of sharing best practices and teaching skills relevant to their work. Current networking groups include and international coalition of trauma relief workers, NGO natural disaster workers in Southeast Asia, healthcare professionals working towards cultural competency, and more.
